Introducing Text Analysis in the Classroom
This introductory workshop will demonstrate the new text mining database Digital Scholar Lab from Gale. Digital Scholar Lab allows for relatively easy analysis of primary source documents. This workshop will explore ways instructors can use the tools in Scholar Lab to illuminate patterns in digital texts in their classes, allowing for deeper understanding of and engagement with archival documents.
By the end of the session, you will be able to create a sample dataset, walk through a simple analysis, and explore possible use cases for teaching.
This workshop will be offered as an online session via Zoom. You must register for this workshop to receive the Zoom link via a confirmation email. On the day of the workshop, use the link to join the session.
