The Internet Archive: Tools for Researching, Saving, and Citing Sources on the Web

The Internet Archive: Tools for Researching, Saving, and Citing Sources on the Web

Old news articles abound with broken hyperlinks to old websites and expired domains. This can be frustrating while conducting research. Where did those digital primary sources go? In this introductory workshop, we will learn the basics for using the Wayback Machine on the Internet Archive. Participants will learn how to access copies of 869+ billion websites, navigate scans taken at different times, and generate reliable citations for research papers. The workshop will also include steps on how to save copies of live websites so that fellow researchers can access digital copies in the future.
