Chat In The Stacks: David Waldstreicher - The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet's Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence

Join us for the first Chat in the Stacks of Spring 2024 as David Waldstreicher discusses his book The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet's Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence.

David Waldstreicher teaches at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. In addition to The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet's Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence (published in March; paperback in March 2025), he has also written books about Benjamin Franklin and slavery, about slavery and the making of the U.S. Constitution, and a documentary history for young adults, The Struggle Against Slavery.
