Scholars to Storytellers: Publishing Books Beyond the Academy
For academics, sharing expertise with policymakers, civic organizations, and media often begins with publishing a book with a renowned trade press, meaning a commercial non-academic publisher like HarperCollins, Knopf, and Simon & Schuster. This two-hour workshop highlights how this process works in practice, including why trade publishing differs from academia, necessary actions like finding agents and proposing projects, marketing and publicity, and key pitfalls to avoid. The workshop leader, Dr. John Ghazvinian, will decipher these often-obscure steps while giving helpful tips and directions for fellow academics hoping to engage the public sphere.
This workshop is geared towards tenured faculty at Temple University across all disciplines. It meets in-person only. RSVP (Registration) required.
