Precious Places Community History Project -- A program of Scribe Video

Join the Blockson Collection for the screening of four documentary shorts produced by community groups in Philadelphia and Jenkintown about the destruction of FDR Park in South Philadelphia, a film about ACES Veterans Center in Germantown which has been a haven for Black and Brown veterans since World War II, the Mercy-Douglass Home for the Blind in West Powelton Village, and the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Jenkintown. 

The Precious Places Community History Project is a community oral history project inviting members of the Philadelphia region’s many neighborhoods to document the buildings, public spaces, parks, landmarks, and other sites that hold the memories of our communities and define where we live. Precious Places teaches the video production process to participating groups, fostering projects authored by those who intimately know the featured neighborhoods.
