Hieu Phan and Ram Tantravahi from Temple’s new Innovation Nest will guide attendees through the challenging landscape of innovation commercialization. Both speakers have extensive experience in the commercialization of scientific innovation. All are welcome for this exciting opportunity to learn from and connect with other entrepreneurs.

Speaker Information:

Hieu Phan: Hieu graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Biotechnology – Applied Microbiology and Microbial Technology. He has over 25 years of Intellectual Property experience. Hieu is a former Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He managed the patent portfolios at Abbott Laboratories and Stryker with notable product launches of Similac, Power-PRO 2, and S3 MedSurge Bed. Hieu started at the Office of Technology Commercialization and Business Development in September of 2023.

Ramana Tantravahi: Ram graduated from the University of Pennsylvania working with former Fels Institute Director Dr. E. Premkumar Reddy. He has held faculty positions at Temple and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and eventually at Onconova Therapeutics, a Temple University spinout. Ram also has experience working in biotech at Midissia Therapeutics, a virtual startup developing a HER2 DNA vaccine developed by NCI Vaccine Branch Chief, Dr. Jay Berzovsky. In 2020, Ram graduated from the Executive MBA program at the Fox School of Business and joined the Office of Technology Commercialization and Business Development in October of 2022 as an Innovation Manager.
