KAMALA is a tribute to Kamala Harris’ remarkable rise from District Attorney in California to her historic presidential run in 2024. Curated by Deborah Willis and Kevin Merida, this visually captivating book features nearly 150 vibrant photographs that capture the joy, challenges, and triumphs of Harris’ campaign. The book celebrates Kamala Harris’ presidential run in one of the most consequential, surprising, and invigorating campaigns in our nation's history, one of the most impactful ever of a candidate attempting to become the first woman president of the United States.

DEBORAH WILLIS, Ph.D. is University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and has affiliated appointments with the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Social & Cultural and the Institute of Fine Arts where she teaches courses on Photography & Imaging, iconicity, and cultural histories visualizing the black body, women, and gender. She is also the director of NYU’s Center for Black Visual Culture/Institute for African American Affairs. She has pursued a dual professional career as an art photographer and as one of the nation's leading historians of African American photography and curator of African diasporic cultures.
DYANA WILLIAMS has distinguished herself as the primary authority on the prominence and value of African American music in global culture. Williams has built a respected niche as a noted air personality and programmer who celebrated 50 years in radio in 2022 and has become one of the foremost women entrepreneurs in contemporary entertainment and media. She currently sits on the board of her alma mater, Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication, where she graduated cum laude. From producing live cultural events to serving as an on-camera commentator for various media, from promoting African American music as an advocate via board service to appearing nationwide as a popular public speaker, Williams is committed to promoting the culture of American indigenous music at all levels of society.
