Make and Share a Web Map with ArcGIS Online

ArcGIS Online is the platform you are most likely to meet in a course assignment, an internship, or a job posting, and Temple's license means it is already available to you.

This session takes you from an address list to a published web map. You will set up your account, add a spreadsheet and geocode it, build a map with a basemap and thematic styling, configure pop-ups so a reader can click and learn something, and pull in ready-made demographic and environmental layers from Esri's Living Atlas. Then you will publish it as a web app and set the sharing so exactly the right people can see it. We will be explicit about what is free under our license and what consumes analysis credits.

No prior GIS experience required. If you have taken the QGIS or GeoLibre sessions, this is the same thinking applied to a platform built for sharing rather than analysis.

This workshop will be offered as an online session via Zoom. You must register for this workshop to receive the Zoom link via a confirmation email. On the day of the workshop, use the link to join the session.

Contact Felipe Valdez at tuq76851@temple.edu with any questions.

Please be advised that the resource covered in this workshop requires Temple AccessNet credentials to log in. Those who do not have an AccessNet ID are still welcome to join the session and learn about the platform. Contact the presenter with questions.
