Teaching with Historical Newspapers: Exploring the Libraries' Digital Collections

Historical newspapers offer students a unique window into the past, inviting them to explore historical events, perspectives, and everyday life through contemporary accounts. They are powerful primary sources for fostering critical thinking, source analysis, and discussions about media, bias, and historical context.

Join us to explore strategies for incorporating digitized historical newspapers into your teaching. Learn about the Libraries' extensive newspaper database collections, discover classroom applications, and discuss ways to help students engage thoughtfully with primary sources across a variety of disciplines.

This workshop will be offered in person only, in Charles Library Room 381.
