The Bootsie Barnes Jazz Series featuring Jazz Musician Sam Reed

The Bootsie Barnes Jazz Series featuring Jazz Musician Sam Reed

Join us for our first performance in the Bootsie Barnes Jazz Series, in memory of local legend Bootsie Barnes. We’ll hear music from the Sam Reed Trio, featuring Sam Reed (tenor saxophone), Rich Budesa (keyboard), and Byron Landham (drums).

Reed is a Philadelphia-based musician who performed with Bootsie Barnes. Working at the Uptown Theatre from 1963-1971, Reed added jazz shows to what was at the time an R&B, blues, and rock and roll venue. Reed was also musical director for Teddy Pendergrass in 1976, and in the early 1970s, he was the “horn contractor” for Gamble and Huff’s Philadelphia International Records.
