Black Music Month - Celebrating Pianist, Composer, Producer, Teacher & Dancer Alfie Pollitt

Join the Blockson Collection on a musical journey with Alfie Pollitt as he shares glimpses of his life and legacy as a pianist, composer, producer, teacher, and dancer. There will be videos and musical performances, along with a tribute to Alfie by Fred Brown, and previews of some exciting things to come!

Alfred "Alfie" Pollitt, a native of Bryn Mawr, PA, has been a student of and performer on the piano since the age of three. Mr. Pollitt is also a songwriter, piano instructor, music producer, studio musician, computer-based music programmer and arranger, dance instructor, history researcher, and a mentor to many, both young and old.

Pollitt has worked with a number of famed musicians in the genres of so-called jazz and rhythm and blues; a short list includes Hank Mobley, Archie Shepp, Johnny Hartman, Slide Hampton, Martha Reeves, The Four Tops, The Trampps featuring Earl Young, Billy Paul, Norman Connors, Lex Humphries, and Sam Reed.

The high point of Alfie's career has been to hold down the pianist chair position with the Philly International recording vocal artist, Mr. Teddy Pendergrass. Alfie can be seen and heard in the documentary full length film on Teddy Pendergrass entitled Teddy Pendergrass: If You Don't Know Me (2019) which appears on Showtime.
