Beyond the Notes: Piano Music of Protest

Beyond the Notes: Piano Music of Protest

Join us for this Beyond the Notes concert featuring Charles Abramovic and piano students from the Boyer College of Music and Dance.

In the vast literature for piano, composers have sometimes used their music to respond to their troubled times, giving voice to protest in reaction to political and cultural events. This program explores how several composers have responded musically to specific historical events. Works by Chopin, Liszt, Janacek, Peter Maxwell Davies, Frederic Rzewski, Alejandro Cardona, and Curt Cacioppo will be performed by Charles Abramovic and his students Dominick D’Alessandro, Daniel Farah, Rachel Lee, and Sarah Lee.

The Beyond the Notes series is presented in collaboration with Boyer College of Music and Dance.

Light refreshments served. Boyer recital credit given.

Our programs are geared toward a general audience and are open to all, including Temple students, faculty, staff, alumni, neighbors, and friends. Registration is encouraged.
